What a show! Over the last two days, the cast of Once Upon a Musical have performed three times and each time they grew in confidence and gave the performance of their lives. The children showed such tenacity and determination, learning their lines, practising singing and dancing as well as being prepared to step in at a moment's notice.
It has been a truly fantastic experience to watch this cast of children perform and thrive in their element.
Thank you to everyone who attended and saw it in person. We hope you enjoyed watching as much as the children did performing.
The reviews are in:
"It was fantastic, such a great show."
"I loved how the villains got booed but kept on performing."
"The child who hurt herself was fantastic. She just came straight back on stage and kept going!"
"They brought a tear to my eye."
"We all loved it so much! Well done to you all - both adults and children! I know how much work went into it and we all appreciate everyone's hard work. The children were amazing! "
"Just wanted to say a huge well done to everyone involved in the production. I happened to be in the hall when the children arrived to get ready for the evening performance and it was so lovely seeing their faces light up when they saw the hall all set up, also saw TAs and other staff working way beyond their hours to make it all happen. You are all amazing."
1DG have been thinking about kind and positive words as part of last week's RESPECT week. Here is their video based on the song 'One Kind Word'. Enjoy!

Can we please remind you we are a nut free school.
Children and members of our school community who suffer from nut allergies can develop a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction.
If someone has a nut allergy it is not just eating nuts that can cause a severe reaction, just being touched on the skin or smelling the breath of someone who has had nuts or a product containing nuts can trigger anaphylactic shock (which can cause breathing and swallowing difficulties).
First aid staff in the school are trained to use the Epi-pens (an injection of adrenalin) which is required immediately if this happens.
We cannot have nuts in school in any form.
So please can we ask that you have no nut products in the lunch boxes or brought into the school as treats.
For example:
Peanut butter sandwiches
Chocolate spreads
Cereal bars
Some granola bars
Cakes that contain nuts
Biscuits / Cookies that contain nuts
Peanut butter cakes
Some Asian food, including satay
Sauces that contain nuts
This list is not exhaustive, so please check the packaging of products closely.
We appreciate that this is an additional thing to check and we know that you recognise the importance of it. While we work hard with those who have serious allergies to ensure they do all they can to keep themselves safe, we do also insist we are a nut free school. I know if this was your child or family member you would expect that we all help, especially as it is a life-threatening condition.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to a member of staff.
Tickets coming soon!!!!

As part of our Proud to be Portsmouth week, Flying Bull were gifted 10 tickets to attend this weekend's Portsmouth FC match against Carlisle. The children had never been to a match before and were surprised to find their seats in the Fratton End, in row B.
It was a slow match, to begin with: the majority of play took part in centre field or at the opposite end of the field. However, the children were in good spirits, joining in with the change and supporting their team.
They were very relieved when, in extra time, the team scored in front of them to make it 1-0 to Portsmouth, taking them back to the top of the league.
Children from Year 6 attended a Handball Tournament this week at Goals. The children played in numerous different teams and used their knowledge of team sports as well as their throwing and catching skills to come top of the league, winning:
27-0
14-0
16-2
12-3
Great teamwork and cooperation were shown alongside our school values of respect, resilience, and aspiration.
Well done to all involved.
